End of Year Board Meeting: December 30

From the comments: There will be an end of the year meeting on Tuesday, December 30 at 7 p.m.

The Board is expected to vote on whether to have a public referendum on the Fire Service Award Program at this meeting.

I have some thoughts on the whole Fire Service Award thing, but I want to research the program a little more, first.

  1. Do you realize what an uproar this decision will bring to our town? Folks out there are are livid! I wish the board would take the time to present multiple incentive ideas including the dollars it will cost before voting on this. The idea of helping out the Chaffee Waterworks was frowned upon because the whole town would not benefit and now we are talking over a million dollars for a handfull of people who are very dedicated but...still it is a large amount. In my opinion, volunteering has always meant "doing an act for the sake of doing the act, not for payment". Give them something to reward the hardships they face on duty and the service they provide but keep it managable.

  2. Wow, if you are willing to compare the 'VOLUNTEER FIREMEN' to 'CHAFFEE WATERWORKS' this community is smokin some really strong stuff. The firemen at least project a "very professional" and "well trained" service to Sardinia. Where as the waterworks is bouncing around like a rubber ball - NO direction - NO plan and certainly NO FUTURE at this point. It's a shame they can't get their act together - maybe need to go to Bushy for a bailout!
