Merry Christmas, Sardinia!

I hope everyone's holiday celebration was filled with good food, delicious cookies, and festive beverages.

  1. I wanted to test out new boots and a new coat brought by Santa last night after a big meal. I borrowed a dog from my brother, got bundled up and set out down the road for a stroll. It was so peaceful out. What a joy seeing so many homes with extra cars in the driveway or along the road. How pretty the sparkling lights looked at the homes I passed. In some windows I saw people laughing and talking together. It was the nicest walk I have taken in a long time and it made me realize how wonderful family is at this time. Almost akin to a modern day Norman Rockwell moment. And, I am happy to report that the dog loved the walk (we are now good friends) and that my new coat and boots are warm and cozy. Merry Christmas Sardinia!

  2. Kara how does one post a subject on your blog?

  3. There are two ways to post a subject on this blog. The easiest way at this point is to email me at karamariek@gmail.com with the content of your post along with a catchy headline, and I'd post it. I guess at this point I'm ok with posting anonymous content, but I would also reserve the right to edit that content and insert my own comments as I see fit. Content that is submitted with a real name and valid contact information, I will post without any editing at all (unless there's a glaring grammatical or spelling error). Much like most newspapers, I will ask for a phone number that I can call at which to verify that you are who you say you are. I wouldn't want someone pretending to be me, and I'm sure no one else would either!

Sorry for the delay in responding - this is the first time in nearly a week that I've opened up the computer.

The other way is to be added as an editor/administrator of the entire site. I'm open to that in the future, but I'll only make that option available to someone who is a consistent contributor to the site.

  4. Kara, I get the impression that you control the subject matter and edit it vs the Home Tic website that invites outside input with limited control - good and bad! Do you feel that your approach is the pulse of Sardinia through many eyes or blinders? I give you credit for the energy and concerns on a few of the issues - but I also feel it's a Johnny come lately attitude. I would suggest you contact the Supervisor (Kathy Balus) who has many of your same concerns at heart and see if she can involve you. The editor of the 'Sardinia Standard' - Jay Burney would very much like to work with you on the Southtowns Ag/Tourism concept as he has promoted local business's in Sardinia for this very reason. Now if the Standard causes your neck to ruffel just a bit then I'll know where your coming from - but if your sincere in your posts, really trying to make a differance - see what he has to say. I'll monitor this site for a bit, but little quote's like "Ville", "bin or two with me", "Community forum idea's - wish I'd taken notes - been 6 wks past - it's as if it never happened" and "End of year meeting - Firemen's program - I want to research" leave me a little on edge exactly where your coming from. Chow!

  5. I also get the idea that Kara controls the subject manner on this site. And, why wouldn't she? She created this site and allows others to respond but this site is really VERY different in nature from the hometic site you talk of. I don't see this site as a place to air dirty laundry. If I chose to respond to Kara's post or to another's, I do so respectfully knowing that Kara may yank it or shut it down. On the other mentioned site, anything seems to go. I think of this as my thinking site and the other as the boxing gloves are off site. Kara has the right to say whatever she chooses here on this site-it is hers. I do not think it is necessary or healthy for anyone to mince words because a few don't like what is being said. Two sides to every issue-two ideas to be shared-two opinions to be aired-that is what this is all about.
